Today I want to share one of my best clinical experience in treating a serious case of diarrhoea in children in a 6 months old baby girl Gayatri.
Gayatri and her parents live in a small village with no primary health centre or hospital. One morning, Gayatri’s mother called me and said that Gayatri is suffering from frequent loose motion since 3 days. The stool is completely watery and whitish in colour. The interval between 2 motion is 15 to 20 minutes and maximum up to 60 minutes. We took her to a government hospital ( PHC) located 10kms away from our village. The doctor gave some syrups and 2 injectables but of no use. Then we consulted a private MBBS practitioner and then to the district hospital. They admitted her overnight, used the conventional medicines and IV infusions. Even after 3 days of treatment, she is not ok and became very weak.
I asked current and past history in brief and advised a few Ayurvedic medicines on phone. Then she asked me whether we should continue allopathic medicines which doctors prescribed her along with your Ayurvedic medicines or not. As Gayatri is not responding to these medicines since 4 days, I said you may stop and start my medicines.I was confident with my medicines as I used them earlier in around 54 children with same problems but was curious to know Gayatri’s condition next day. They didn’t inform me about her current health. After 5 days, I met Gayatri’s father accidentally in a shop. I asked about her health. Her father said she is absolutely fine now. She started recovering after 2 doses of your medicines and was completely ok within 2 days. She is now taking regular baby food and enjoying. I smiled and came back to my home.

For your reference below is the Ayurvedic prescription which I usually use in Diarrhoea in Children:
1. Giloy Satva 5gm
Sitopladi Churna 10gm
Jaharmohra pishti 5gm
Mukta pishti 2gm
Mix all of the above medicinal powder and give her 2 pinches mixed with mother’s milk 3 times a day.
2. Kutajghan Vati – crush half tab (125mg) and give along with mother’s milk or honey twice a day.
3. Arvindasava – 5ml mixed with 10ml water twice a day.
Thanks for spending your precious time. Hope, this will help you in your Clinical Ayurvedic practice.
